Weekly Photo Challenge: Symmetry

This is the first time I’ve taken part in the daily post Weekly Photo Challenge.
For the subject symmetry, I have chosen two almost identical photographs from my recent trip to the Serengeti National Park last month, with my year 6 class from Isamilo International School, Mwanza.
I took these two photographs, of what I believe is a species of Euphorbia, just as the sun was coming up over the stunning Tanzanian landscape. It was their pure natural and almost perfect symmetry which had initially drawn me to them.
One of my year 6 students came up to me and asked me what I was doing, I explained that I was taking photographs of this beautiful plant and showed him the images. He looked at the photos and back at me with a confused expression and said he could fix my camera so that I could take better photographs, so the image would not be blurred and that everything would be in focus. I gave him the excuse I always give to people… “You know me, I’m just trying to be arty!”

Thanks Ben. It really was such a beautiful plant which lent itself so well to symmetry, especially from this angle and in the early morning light.
