Throughout May I have been taking part in an online art challenge to draw or paint a new picture everyday.
Along with about 400 other artists from around the world I have been posting sketches of whatever the subject is that particular day on the facebook page Everyday in May.
So far the topics have included: something cracked, something handed down to you, an umbrella and some biscuits.
It has been really interesting to share creative experiences and it is wonderful to see how people interpret the different topics. I also really appreciate getting instant feedback on my images.
Here are my first 16 sketches from May 1st to May 16th 2014, art mediums have included watercolours, pen and ink, chalks and sketching pencils.

Every Day in May is a spin off group from the group Everyday Matters, which was started in 2004 and grew out of Danny Gregory’s weblog and books, Everyday Matters, The Creative License and An Illustrated Life.
This online group encourages artists to expand their creativity. Members of the group have different degrees of ability and experience, from total novices to professional illustrators, artist and teachers.
Subjects for the second half of May 2014 will include: something you have always wanted, paper money and something that needs to be polished. I will post part two of my Every Day in May images at the end of the month.
