A few weeks ago my husband and I took advantage of visiting grandparents to have a sneaky evening away without our three young children.
Mark had previously won a night for two at a Tunza Lodge, a local beach resort. And when Bill and Joan came to stay, we decided to grab the babysitting opportunity – bearing in mind this was the first night away together without the children in seven years… yes seven years!

- Sundowners on the banks of Lake Victoria
- Ali and Mark enjoying a couple of sundowners at Tunza Lodge, Mwanza
We had sundowners on the shore of Lake Victoria, a scrumptious meal of Calamari, a selection of cocktails and watched an amazing tropical sunset.
The following morning, the owner of Tunza had organised for us to take a 30 minute tour of Lake Victoria in a speed boat.
The views of Mwanza and the rocky outcrops were fantastic and these are a couple of paintings from that moment.
